New Sail22 Speed Shop and Storage Facilities

It's been awhile since we've updated our Sail22 blog, but we have some very exciting news! Introducing our new Sail22 Speed Shop and Storage facility! This past year, we expanded the Sail22 services and added the Scow Spa and Whaler Workshop. This allowed us to provide repair and maintenance services to Scows and Boston Whalers, besides the work we have been doing already with Melges 24's and Etchells. Both have been successful and we even ran out of room for our own C-Scow in our other three barns! After some talk, we decided we needed some more room at Sail22 Headquarters and began planning for our new Speed Shop. We opted for a pole barn construction and our builder has been doing an excellent job.

We broke ground about a two weeks ago and the structure should be finished soon.

We look forward to the completion of the outside construction and then we get to work on the inside to make it into the Speed Shop. We are excited to be able to service our clients even better with this new addition. With this new new facility, we will improve our indoor facilities to support Melges 32's and other boats of similar size and have the capability to lift these boats for more extensive work.

We are also are renovating one of our existing barns to have an apartment, so owners or boat captains may come work on their boats here as well. Check out the photo gallery here.

Etchells North American's 2009 Photos

Royal Canadian Yacht Club Flags Sail22 was the official photographer for the 2009 Etchells North Americans in Toronto, Canada from October 16-18th hosted by the Royal Canadian Yacht Club. Check out the photos in our gallery and let us know if you are looking for anything in particular, as we have over 1,000 from the event.  We'll be working to get them sorted for searching by sail number (ie. search: USA 123) this week. Congratulations to Marvin Beckman and his team on their victory. We think our Sail22 team lunches had something to do with their win! The Annapolis NOOD Report

Daniel & Ed in Annapolis This year we had a special guest join us for the Annapolis NOOD. Ed’s oldest nephew, Daniel, age 9, came to Annapolis with Grandpa to sail with his uncle on Michael Gavin’s Etchells. He must have been good luck because they won a race and also finished 2nd in another race! This was Daniel’s first time on a keel boat and he did a great job. Hopefully we will have him come sail again and in the future the other nephews and niece as they get a little bit older.

Becky ended up sailing Melges 24’s with Pieter Tiesler on Bliksem. Pieter currently owns a Melges 32 and chartered the M24 to try it out. He and the team definitely had fun and we hope to see them in the Melges 24 class again soon!
